David Katz, Ph.D., founded Sparrow Pharmaceuticals. With his leadership, the Company acquired global rights to its lead asset from Astellas Pharma, raised more than $160 million, and advanced the program through clinical proof-of-concept. He stepped away in early 2026 after Sparrow achieved its original goal to advance a drug candidate intolate-stage development. Previously, David spent 18 years at Abbott/AbbVie, where he held R&D leadership roles spanning drug discovery, clinical development, and personalized medicine. He earned his Ph.D. from Yale University and completed postdoctoral research at the Universities of Chicago and Michigan. David is also an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Oregon Health & Science University and an active mentor to life-science innovators.
